Why Doncaster landlords are acting on EPC C

Doncaster has an affordable and sizeable private rented sector built on former mining-village terraces, interwar council-built stock now in private hands, and postwar semis across the wider borough. There is a smaller but growing HMO market in the town centre and around the college and railway-employment hubs, where bills-inclusive lets occasionally appear; in those the landlord is the bill payer and self-consumption returns cash directly. The outlying market towns of Bawtry, Tickhill and Thorne offer larger period and semi stock with good roof orientation where a 4 kW array models cleanly. Doncaster Council, planning and conservation

For most Doncaster houses, rooftop solar is permitted development, panels not protruding more than 200mm and not on a listed building’s principal elevation. The complications are the borough’s conservation areas, including Bawtry, Tickhill, Conisbrough around the castle, and parts of the town centre near Doncaster Minster, and listed buildings, which need Listed Building Consent.
